Easton, Maryland—October 22, 2014. Quality Health Strategies (QHS) teamed up with Headrush 180 Salon to do their part to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer, taking the lives of approximately 40,000 women annually.

On October 6th, QHS hosted “Get a Pink Streak” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Ladies paid $10 for a hair extension, actual human hair dyed pink, and Headrush 180 Salon added the extension to their hair. The extensions were fused with client’s existing hair then cut to match their actual hair length. The pink extensions can be washed, straightened, and blown dry because it is natural hair. It took only a few minutes and they can last three months or longer.

"We are proud to partner with Headrush 180 Salon to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Month," said Fredia Wadley, MD, Chief Executive Officer.  "We are also happy to be able to contribute and show our dedication in helping provide quality healthcare in our Easton community."

Proceeds from the inaugural fundraiser benefited the Memorial Hospital Foundation.

University of Maryland Memorial Hospital Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization serving the fundraising needs of University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton and University of Maryland Shore Regional Health.   Through its philanthropic efforts, the Foundation supports UM Shore Regional Health’s ability to provide quality healthcare to the local community by contributing to hospital programs and services.
