(Easton, MD) June 10, 2016 - On May 26, 2016 the Maryland External Quality Review Team held a day-long Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) Training and Inter-rater Reliability (IRR) testing for the review nurses from our subcontractor, Professional Services Network (PSN). EPSDT is a federally-mandated Medicaid program for screening, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of physical and mental health conditions in children and adolescents through 20 years of age, as defined by Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) in 1989. Each year, Delmarva Foundation conducts EPSDT medical record reviews at provider offices throughout Maryland. The goal is to assess the timely delivery of EPSDT services to children and adolescents enrolled in an MCO in Maryland. The review includes approximately 300 provider sites and over 3200 medical records reviewed.

This year Delmarva Foundation trained eight nurses from PSN and two from Delmarva Foundation in the Waterside Village office in Easton, Maryland. Four representatives from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene also attended. The nurses began the IRR Testing at the training session and they completed it in the following week. The nurses scored 91% in the IRR testing. This is a great start to this review season!

A total of 19 people attended the session—seven Delmarva Foundation and QHS staff members also attended.
